I want to thank Emily Webb from HelpHopeLive for the lead on this important news article.
It points out some important issues that need to be addressed, especially early on after transplant surgery.
As I’ve blogged about before, the lungs are tricky to transplant & have lower survival rates than other organs for several factors. One of the main issues is that they are so closely tied to other bodily systems & being so makes them inherently more vulnerable to complications.
Because of my medical history I do have concerns about my kidneys ability to handle the surgery as well as the transplant medications.
This is but one example that this news article points out is important to manage early on.
I know both my transplant doctor & surgeon are on top of such issues, but I’m glad the wider community is making efforts to monitor such complications in candidates & recipients across the board.
You are courageous.
